How to Use Proxy

There are two main types of proxy that have been used to access blocked content, websites, and surf the internet anonymously; they are called web-based proxy and web browser-based proxy which show as IP: Prot.

Using both of them could be tricky sometimes but they do not require technical knowledge at all. Following I am sharing the step-by-step information on how to use proxy in both cases, Web-based proxy and IP: Prot Proxy – web browser-based proxy.


How to Use a Web-based Proxy

Using a web-based proxy does not require you to adjust the settings of your web browser. Web based proxy sites are free to use but they are full of ads and sometimes forcefully opened unwanted websites and download the free software without your permission.

Using web-based proxies is easy. But sometimes finding a reliable web proxy could be time taking. Simply use a search engine like Google and search the web proxy websites and test a few of them to evaluate that which fits with your requirements. A web-based proxy that has fewer ads and opens a website fast is considered the best one.


How to Use Proxies on the Browsers

Before I start the tutorial, make sure that you need to have the list of active proxy including their port to use proxy on different browsers.

Where to find the Proxy?

The active list of proxy and port could be found online for free and paid. Websites like NordVPN Proxy List and VPN websites also provide you free list of hundreds of proxy IP addresses around the world.

Use IP: Port Proxy in Mozilla Firefox:

Step 1: Open Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox is available to download for free. So, download if you do not have one

Step 2: Click on options on the main menu. This section could be different on different Firefox versions but could be accessed easily under the main menu of the Firefox.

Step 3: Click on the Advanced button. Advanced button under options section is usually the last one but could be different on different versions of Firefox

Step 4: Click on Network tab under the advanced section

Step 5: Click on Settings button which is next to the connections options

Step 6: Under settings, you will some options. You have to select “Manual proxy configurations” option.

Step 7: Write down the IP address in the HTTP proxy field

Step 8: Write down the port number in the port field.

Step 9: once you set the proxy details, now click on OK button to use proxy and unblock the blocked websites or surf internet anonymously.


Use IP: Port proxy in Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer. You don’t need to download this because it is inbuilt software of Windows

Step 2: Under the main menu, click on the tool option. This would appear in the upper right corner of the browser

Step 3: Here you will see many options but you need to click on the connection tab only to use the proxy

Step 4: Once the connection tab opened, click on LAN settings or settings options under Dial-up is you are using Dial-up connection

Step 5: Under LAN settings, you need to check the option called “Use a proxy server for your LAN” this option will allow you to enter the proxy details

Step 6: Now you have to enter the proxy details which include proxy IP address and port number to use the proxy

Step 7: Once you write down the proxy details, click on ok button and open the blocked websites or surf the internet with a new identity or anonymously.


Use IP: Port Proxy in Google Chrome:

Step 1: Open Google Chrome. If you don’t have one already then download it from Google Chrome's official website. It is free to download

Step 2: Once Google Chrome has been opened, you need to click on the wrench in the upper right corner and look for the settings option

Step 3: Click on the settings option explore further options.

Step 4: Now click on “Show advanced settings” button which will appear at the end of the page

Step 5: Here you will see the option to set the proxy details. Click on “Change proxy settings” button

Step 6: Like internet explorer, new windows of connection will appear where you have to click on LAN settings button

Step 7: Under LAN settings, you need to check the option called “Use a proxy server for your LAN” this option will allow you to enter the proxy details

Step 8: Now you have to enter the proxy details which include proxy IP address and port number to use the proxy

Step 9: Once you write down the proxy details, click on ok button and open the blocked websites or surf the internet with a new identity or anonymously.


Use IP: Port Proxy in Safari on Mac

Using proxy in Safari on Mac could be a little tricky as it required different steps to follow as compared to Windows software.

Step 1: Open Safari in your Mac, Safari is the default web browser of Max operating software so you don’t need to download it separately

Step 2: Under the main menu of Safari, you need to click on the Safari option and then click on the Preferences option. This option could be a bit different on different versions of iOS but you have to click on option Preferences under the main menu of Safari

Step 3: Under the preferences section, There would be many options will be appeared but you have to click on Advanced button to set the proxy details

Step 4: Click on “Change Settings” button written next to proxies section in advance tab

Step 5: Check the option called “Automatic Proxy configuration” This option will appear under the proxies tab in case if it does not appear

Step 6: Here you will enter the details of Proxy. For Mac users, instead of adding IP address and port number, you have to enter the URL of the proxy configuration file in the texts box

Step 7: Make sure to uncheck the option “Use Passive FTP Mode” before you click on OK button

Step 8: Now click on OK button to use proxy on the Mac operating system and open blocked websites and surf internet anonymously.
